How to make a claim

City Insurance has arranged a 24 hour reporting help line to assist clients in reporting motor accidents/claims/theft. This service is operated on our behalf by Winn Solicitors (WS), who are both solicitors and an accident management company. WS will use their own company, On Hire Ltd., to provide credit repair and/or credit hire on your behalf. Winn Solicitors are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) No. 00400385. On Hire Ltd. are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) FRN.480928.

If claiming for other insurance (Home, Business, etc.)
Please refer to your policy booklet or contact us for guidance. If you are unsure who to call, please contact our office on 01962 844848 and we will guide you.

WS will take a report of the incident and forward where possible the report on to your insurer so they may contact you and deal with your notification. This may be an accident that could have been your fault or where blame may be in dispute. This may be for other matters such as Fire, Theft, Malicious Damage, Windscreen etc.

In the circumstance you have been involved in an accident that you believe was not your fault WS will offer you their services to pursue a claim directly against the responsible Third Party. This will all be explained in the call. WS will make the final decision if they can follow this route and it will depend on the Third Party driver being insured by an insurer registered with the FCA in the United Kingdom.

We offer two options for pursuing a non-fault claim, as outlined below:

If you wish for WS to claim directly against a third party insurer:

As experts in accident management and legal matters as qualified solicitors, WS will claim directly against the other driver's insurance company and handle your whole claim.

  • No claim made against your own insurance policy.*
  • Whilst there are legal documents to sign with WS, this will all be explained to you during your intial call with them.
  • There are no costs payable by you providing your claim is legitimate and you co-operate with the team persuing your it.
  • WS can provide a like-for-like hire vehicle and keep you mobile even if your vehicle is written off.
  • WS can include claims for personal injury if you or your passengers are injured.
  • No excess to pay your own insurer when your car is repaired.
  • Your no claims bonus remains unaffected as there is no claim on your own policy.*
  • Full legal back up and claims service throughout.

If you do not wish to accept WS services and claim against your own policy:

You can still call and report the incident on the above help line. The report will be taken by WS and passed to your insurers who will contact you. You can call your insurer and report the incident or you can call us still for advice.

  • Your insurer will likely ask you to get estimates to repair your car and may offer you a repairer that they have approved.
  • At the point of booking your car in for repairs, subject to availability, a courtesy car will be provided* for the duration of the repair. This will be a small courtesy car and not like for like. *Not all insurers provide a courtesy vehicle. No alternative vehicle will be provided if your vehicle is a write off.
  • You will have to pay your policy excess to the garage once your vehicle is repaired.
  • A claim will be outstanding on your insurance record until your insurer makes a full recovery from the responsible driver's insurance company.
