No No Claims Bonus

Reasons you may have zero no claims bonus

Ex company car driver

Your claim-free history may not be in your own name.

Named driver

Named driver experience does not always convert into your own NCB.

Second car

Your main policy NCB is often not transferable to a second car.

Lost bonus

A claim or gap in cover can reduce or remove your no claims bonus.

What happens to your bonus if you
claim?

When you make a claim your no claims bonus is 'stepped back' by two years – use the scale above as an indication (as this may vary from insurer to insurer). Once you have reached the top of the scale, an additional loyalty discount may be included for your ongoing custom.

Once you have reached the maximum bonus, you may have the option to "protect or guarantee" your no claims bonus to guard against loss from claims

Monthly premiums available (Subject to status)

How you can benefit

Same cover goal, different circumstances. We can often still help.

You don't have a "No Claims Bonus" in your name – If you have been a driver on say a partner’s or spouses policy and now need to insure you own car we can allow as many years claim free years equally large discounts as per the scale shown.
You may be an ex-company car driver – If you have had use of a company car, this can counts towards earnt no claims bonus. Generally a letter from your previous employer stating how long you have used the company car for and confirming your driving history with the firm will suffice as proof
You are insuring a second car – Insuring a second car doesn’t mean you start from scratch. We can allow a second car no claims bonus, this can mirror the same level that you have on your first car or van.
You have been named driver on someone else's policy – If you have been a driver on someone else’s policy, we can allow a no claims bonus based on how long you have driven claim free on that person’s policy
Your bonus may have been lost as a result of a claim – Losing your no claims bonus due to claims can be a costly exercise. However we will take a look at your overall driving experience and normally allow an intro discount that can reduce costs considerably.
You have had an accident against a "Protected no claims bonus" – Depending on the scale of no claims bonus that your previous insurer has used, we may be able to transfer a protected no claims bonus. Alternatively if the protection is lost we may be able to continue with a discount
